Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the firm, the work, and what to expect.
What does the no-cost initial consultation include?
A thirty-minute call to discuss your current situation, what you need, and whether the firm is the right fit. There is no obligation and no sales pressure. The goal is to understand your environment and determine whether a formal engagement makes sense.
What industries does the firm work with?
The firm works with employers across professional services, healthcare, behavioral health, nonprofit organizations, manufacturing, legal and financial services, retail and hospitality, and small to mid-sized employers generally. Behavioral health and healthcare are among the deepest practice areas, with specialized capability in CARF, OHMAS, Medicaid, HIPAA, and DEA documentation.
What size organizations do you typically work with?
The core client base is organizations of five to two hundred employees. These are employers large enough to face real compliance exposure but not large enough to justify a full-time senior HR executive. Engagements are sized to actual risk posture and growth stage.
Do you only serve clients in Ohio?
The firm is based in Northwest Ohio and serves clients primarily across Ohio. However, much of the work — handbooks, policy development, compliance systems, training programs — can be performed remotely for employers in other states. Multi-state handbook capability is available.
What credentials does the consultant hold?
Noah Winkelman holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from HRCI and the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential from the Society for Human Resource Management. Both are active and current. Work is grounded in the SHRM BASK competency framework and ADDIE methodology for training and development.
How are engagements structured and priced?
Engagements are available as project-based (fixed fee for a defined deliverable), retainer (monthly advisory access), or fractional leadership (defined hours per week). Every engagement begins with a written proposal specifying scope, deliverables, timeline, and fee structure before any work begins. See the pricing page for current rates and engagement models.
What is the typical response time?
Initial inquiries receive a response within two business days. During active engagements, communication cadence is established in the engagement letter and typically includes regular check-ins and prompt availability for time-sensitive matters.
Do I own the work product?
Yes. Every deliverable — handbooks, policies, SOPs, training materials, documentation systems — is owned by the client organization upon completion and payment. The firm does not retain licensing rights or impose ongoing fees for use of completed work.
Is this a law firm or legal services provider?
No. Northwest Ohio HR Consulting is a human resources consulting firm, not a law firm. The firm does not provide legal advice or legal representation. Work is informed by employment law and regulation but does not constitute legal counsel. Clients requiring legal advice are referred to qualified employment attorneys.
